A lot of people have remarked on how well the plantings are progressing at Ernest Sendall Park. Geoff and I did some diligent watering last year but the regular rain this year has really helped the plants get well established. It is wonderful to see how much bush regeneration is happening. It is testament to leaving the leaf litter and keeping the mowers away from the trees.
There are quite a few weeds on the site so am proposing a working bee on Sunday, 30th June from 10am until noon. The weeding is not hard work and once weeded, there is a lovely pile of mulch that we can use to replenish the site.
Volunteers will need to wear gloves and bring containers to put the weeds in. We will empty the weeds into our trailer to take to the tip. Your containers can then be used to collect mulch. Some wheelbarrows would be useful on the day too, if you can bring one.
It will be fun to work together in the winter sunshine. We will share a well earned morning tea late morning.
