About the event
After a welcome and some updates since the last meeting, we will hear from our guest speaker on a topic relevant to Bribie Island and BIEPA's mission. After an essential break for tea and biscuits, we'll have a few short talks from other members before heading home or mingling at the bar.
At this month's social meeting we'll learn all about the two species of dolphin that live in our own backyard!
The waters surrounding Bribie Island provide important habitat for two unique species of dolphins, the Australian Humpback Dolphin and the Indo-Pacific Bottlenose dolphin. Join guest speaker Lara from Dolphin Research Australia who will take you through a journey to learn about their biology, social systems, and their conservation. She will cover how Dolphin Research Australia is helping to conserve these creatures, their current research, and how you too can help look after them and their habitat. Lara joins us thanks to Bribie Dolphin Sightings.
Take this opportunity to meet your fellow BIEPA members and find out how you can help BIEPA achieve its mission.
Important: If you are a BIEPA member and would like to give a short talk, please contact the management committee in advance so we can plan for time and prepare slides to support your talk. We only have two hours for these evening meetings so please respect other members' time by keeping your talks relevant and succinct. If you want more discussion, encourage members to join a subsequent dedicated meeting on the topic of your talk.
