10 Nov 2024, 9:00 am – 11:00 am

Woorim Rotary Park near Sixth Avenue, North St, Woorim QLD 4507, Australia

About the event

Join BIEPA's annual community celebration of the critically endangered loggerhead turtles that nest each year on the beaches of Bribie Island. The Bribie Island beaches become more and more significant as turtle populations face increased pressures, and rookeries further north warm as the climate changes — every hatchling counts!

Help grow community awareness of these amazing ancient mariners, and join together to protect them before it's too late!

Check out this video of last year's Giant Turtle!

Enjoy turtle information stalls and turtle-riffic kids activities in the lead-up to the Giant Turtle formation, including educational activities thanks to Bribie Island Turtle Trackers. This year we'll also have a simple "snack and tea/coffee truck" run by local volunteers from the Vietnam Veterans Association.

Please note the new location in Woorim Rotary Park, and the timing to coincide with the morning low tide... so there's plenty of space to create a Giant Turtle on the beach.

Register for this event to receive updates and reminders by email and to give us an idea of how many are coming. If you can help to organise the event in advance, or help set up and pack down stalls, or help with any of the activities, please register and tick the "crew" checkboxes.
